Tip #1: The Corner Strategy
This is the single most important strategy in 2048. Choose one corner of the board — most players pick the bottom-left or bottom-right — and make it the permanent home for your largest tile.
Every move you make should be aimed at keeping that big tile anchored in its corner. To achieve this, keep the entire bottom row filled with tiles so that left/right moves do not shift your corner tile. Only use the "up" direction when absolutely necessary.
Once you master this technique, you will find yourself consistently reaching 512, 1024, and eventually 2048.
Tip #2: Build a Descending Chain
Arrange your tiles in a "snake" pattern, with values descending from the corner outward. For example, if your corner is bottom-right, your bottom row might look like:

Then the row above snakes in the opposite direction:
16 | 8 | 4 | 2
This organized layout means that when tiles merge, the chain cascades beautifully, sometimes triggering multiple merges in a single move.
Tip #3: Think Before You Swipe

- Will this move keep my highest tile in its corner?

- Can I fill the bottom row with this move to lock my corner tile in place?

Tip #4: Avoid the Up Direction
If you have chosen a bottom corner for your biggest tile, you should almost never press the "up" arrow. Moving up pulls your large tile out of its corner and creates chaos on the board.
Limit yourself to three directions: down, left, and right. Only press "up" when there is absolutely no other option and you are certain it will not dislodge your highest tile.
Tip #5: Merge Small Tiles Early
Small tiles (2s and 4s) may seem harmless, but they pile up quickly and block critical merges. Whenever possible, merge small tiles immediately rather than letting them accumulate.
A clean board with fewer, larger tiles gives you more room to maneuver and reduces the risk of getting stuck.
Tip #6: Keep the Bottom Row Full
This is a natural extension of the corner strategy. When the bottom row is completely filled, left and right movements will not shift the row at all. This means your corner tile stays perfectly locked.
Aim to have a full bottom row at all times. If a merge creates a gap in the bottom row, your immediate priority should be to fill it back up.
Advanced: Going Beyond 2048
Once you can consistently reach 2048, the real challenge begins. Reaching 4096 requires the same strategies but with tighter execution. Here are advanced tips:
- Never break the chain: Your descending chain becomes even more critical at higher tile values. One misplaced tile can end a run.

- Aim for monotonic rows: Try to keep each row and column in either ascending or descending order. This maximizes merge opportunities.
